CFP continues to work with the Friends of Northgate Park, a North Camden-based community organization dedicated to maintaining, monitoring, programming and upgrading Northgate Park, and several other North Camden stakeholders to identify funding sources for upgrades to Northgate Park and manage the subsequent upgrades to the park. Northgate Park is located in the center of the North Camden neighborhood and is an important neighborhood asset, but requires regular maintenance and upgrades in order to continue to serve the North Camden community. The 2008 North Camden Neighborhood recommends that Northgate Park be upgraded, regularly programmed and monitored on a consistent basis.
In September 2012, CFP entered in a licensing agreement with the City of Camden to manage the rehabilitation and programming of Northgate Park. CFP has secured $200,000 for upgrades to Northgate Park from the NJDEP Green Acres Program, which, along with matching from funds from several sources including the New Jersey Partnership for Healthy Kids and the United Way, will be utilized to perform the following upgrades to the park: installation of security cameras, repair/replace fencing, resurface basketball court, repair picnic tables, benches, water fountains and spray pool. These upgrades will complement other recent work in Northgate Park, including a comprehensive tree-trimming project and the late 2012 installation of a new playground in Northgate Park, a project that CFP worked on the with City of Camden, YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties, Horizon BCBSNJ, KaBOOM! and many local partners.
